The BMI Formula was developed by Adolphe Quelet and used to be known as the Quetelet index. Calculating your BMI manually is very simple and straight forward.

All you need is your height and weight to get started.

BMI Formula
BMI = (Weight in pounds * 703) / (Height in inches x height in inches)

Example:

Weight: 115
Height: 66 inches

BMI = (115 x 703) / (66 x 66)
BMI = 18.6
